Inequality was observed for children’s oral health by sex and SES; however, regular dental attendance, having less sugary drink intake and optimal toothbrushing mediated these associations in adolescents.

This study explored the GWAS on dental caries and summarized the heterogeneities of the included studies, leading to inconsistent results. Guideline and more GWAS with larger sample size and multiethnicities are needed to fully understand the genetic basis of dental caries.
